Panalpina Charter Network
The Panalpina Charter Network is a virtual cargo airline that we control at our customers' command.
Created in 1990, Panalpina’s Charter Network is unique among international freight forwarders. It gives us control while remaining asset-light.
It enables us to secure freighter capacity on countless routes and schedules around the world – and we have complete control of the entire journey.
The network not only controls aircraft, but it designs and oversees processes on the ground as well, ensuring the best possible control, security and efficiency from door-to-door.
The network is highly reliable, totally flexible and tailor-made to meet your specific need.
It is perfectly suited to big consignments, time-critical goods and special handling requirements, such as temperature control. Panalpina offers a huge range of services dedicated to such needs – find out more here.
How we move goods
We have two main options for moving goods through the Charter Network:
- Leased aircraft
We wet-lease one nose-loading Boeing 747-8 Freighter, which is the backbone of the Network. Its maximum payload is 140 tons.
- Chartered aircraft
We charter or part-charter aircraft on both a scheduled and ad hoc basis through our close working relationships with many of the world’s largest operators.
Panalpina’s air cargo gateways at Luxembourg’s Findel Airport and Huntsville International Airport in the U.S. are crucial to the smooth flow of the Network. Both are large, sophisticated facilities and – cruciallly – are situated at airports with minimal congestion.
A Road Feeder Service links Luxembourg and Huntsville with other major centers and offers assured, scheduled road transport between the gateways and Panalpina stations in Europe and the U.S.
